Alison
Founder of Internet Yoga Class

I had been meaning to try yoga forever. I even went to one class and enjoyed it very much. However, like most people, getting all dressed up and going to a room full of strangers to learn yoga just wasn't appealing enough to get myself off the couch. I had good intentions and knew that yoga would be very beneficial for the high-stress level job I worked in (television news) and my lifestyle (going to school full-time and working) Yet it all just seemed too difficult to learn.

Not to mention all of the yoga studios were too far away and I didn't want to put the miles on my car or pay for gas, plus the classes themselves were expensive...anywhere from $10-$12 a class, or in the hundreds for a monthly rate.

Also, I work crazy shifts, sometimes starting at 3 am, other times not until 3pm, and it was hard finding yoga classes that fit my schedule. Having a yoga instructor come to me would seem to be the answer, but really, not many people could afford that, including me.

That's when I thought, wouldn't it be great if the yoga class was actually brought to me...by being broadcasted through the computer? It would be like having all of the benefits of a real live class, but none of the hassle. I knew I wanted to learn yoga by myself, but still realized the importance of having a yoga instructor to ask questions and to have the support of other students. Now with yoga classes online I could have the best of both worlds.

My experience includes years in television news, commercials, and government access television and an MCAI award. My education includes a Bachelors of Telecommunications and Film with a minor in history from Eastern Michigan University, and certificate in TV Production from Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts. I hope this website helps you to start learning yoga today and start enjoying the benefits in an easier, less expensive way. If you have any comments or suggestions, I would love to hear them.

Sincerely,
Alison - Founder of Internet Yoga Class

Kirsten
Senior Class Instructor/Content Producer

Kirsten is a Hatha Yoga instructor, certified with the Yoga Alliance. In her classes and her life, she is a catalyst for peace, harmony and balance. Her parents taught her as a child the art of Yoga through meditation, breathing and postures. Living a life of spirituality in its many forms drove her to find her passions.  She began taking yoga classes while she was pregnant with her second child, and was thrilled with her personal transformation. This ignited a passion to "help others see and know the light that shines in all people and things" and provoked her to further her studies and become a teacher. She continues her studies in pranayama, scripture, asana, and sanskrit.

She has spent most of her life between living in the South West side of Chicago and in Michigan. Growing up in the Chicago and Detroit art and music scenes, she has had many experiences in acting, modeling, dancing throughout the years. She is married and has two boys who are all her inspirations.  She says "As you experience Yoga, you come in touch with your true self. You become aware of freedom with your Body, Mind and Heart."
