Famous Yogi Tips For Improved Flexibility

Almost every type of yoga is designed with flexibility in mind. If you are just starting out, there are a few poses designed to improve flexibility to those tight areas. The following are some tips to improve flexibility to those areas that tighten up as we get older.
Choose poses that stretch the hamstring. These poses should consist of standing or sitting while bending forwards. Remember to keep your spine straight and long for proper stretching.
Other poses include those involving the hips, usually referred to as hip openers. These can be difficult for beginners who have been inactive for long periods of time. Take it slow at first until you build up your flexibility.
Advanced poses such as the full wheel, full pigeon, or the forearm stand, work to loosen up the shoulders while building strength and balance. Never stretch beyond your capabilities as this could result in serious injuries. Your flexibility will improve as long you know your limitations and gradually build up your strength.
Your diet is another consideration with yoga and flexibility. Avoid junk food, coffee, sodas, and tea, and incorporate more raw vegetables into your diet. Raw Vegetables and leafy greens are easier to digest, and provide your body with more energy to help with yoga and flexibility.
